5 MINUTE OC MEME:  20 RANDOM QUESTIONS

Simply what it says.
20 random and varied questions to answer as your OC.  Designed to make you think a little bit more about the minutiae of the character and about their place in their world.

01  What is the worst nickname that anyone has ever called you?
On one hand I wanted to say it's 'Pup'. My father used to call me that way, since I was the youngest child, and, you know, it had to do with my family name. Lloup, the wolf. But I don't think that counts, since it's family, they have to give you weird names. Besides that, I really hated when someone gave me the nickname 'lover', with a re-e-eally long 'L' in the beginning. I think it had to do with amount of 'L's in my full name. I don't know why I hated it so much, now that I think about it.

02  Have you got a favourite flower?
You know, I've grown up as a… well, farmer. A long, long time ago, when we fought with swords and the beauty of a man was defined by how much he reeked of horse and sweat. I was taught to learn the natural qualities of flowers, not appreciate them. However, now that you ask, I think I really like cornflowers and pansies. You know, simple, ugly by some standards, and not too elegant. Like me, he-he!

03  Do you add a sauce, ketchup or other artificial flavourings to your food?
I really like ketchup, a bit spicy. Never tasted much sauces, though, I have to change that.

04  Describe yourself using only words that begin with the letter 'T'.
Thick, thinking, truthful, thoughtful, tackling teddy-bear…
That wasn't too modest.

05  What is your lover's pet name for you?
There is none. She calls me by name. Just by name. And I love it.

06  What is your least favourite colour?
Ooh, I'm… not sure? They're all great, I don't really know. I think it might be purple? I like it at times, tho. Or toxic green, but again, it looks good at times. I guess it's more about where it is used. I mean, I enjoy spring green, but I don't like green clothes on pale people: they make them look sick. I really enjoy Cryptic's purple uniform, but I do not like purple ensigns and purple backgrounds on paintings 'n tapestry.

07  Who did you vote for in the last election, and did they win?
I don't vote. Not that there's a need, we're still a monarchy. You know, we don't choose. But if we did, I wouldn't vote. I have better things to attend to; besides, nothing will change for someone like me. I'm a goddamn quasigod!

08  What is/was your grandfather's name?
Which one? My mother's father was Marten, and my father's father was Lino.

09  What is the best present you ever received?
I-uh… never quite received any presents. I mean, they were usually in childhood and something very needed and important, like boots or a bag, but nothing classical present-y. We were poor! Well, OK, not as poor as you imagined, but, nevertheless, had a hard time, especially during and after war.
*sigh* I've stopped celebrating or even paying attention to my birthdays when I was a young teen, and never did since as time passed. And, being not quite the social type and moving along the country, I never got any friends to spend holidays with; never attended any celebrations… crowds scare me. So I don't think I really received any presents. I like making them, tho.

10  What is 17 1/2% of 97 + 42 x (6 / 2) – 137 ?
Depends whether you mean 17 1/2% of (97 + 42 x (6 / 2) – 137) or (17 1/2% of 97) + 42 x (6 / 2) – 137.
15.05 and 5.975 respectively, I guess.

11  What would be the best possible way you could die?
But I can not die. However, I'd consider a heart attack of exhaustion during work. On the other hand I'd like to die funny. Like, being hit by a truck with condoms while dancing on the road on LSD or something.

12  Given the choice of absolutely anything, what would be your dream job?
I already have it! I science!
Seriously, though, it's all I could ever dream about. I have this huge scientific centre, almost unlimited amount of resources and I can practically do whatever I want. So, yeah, I already have a dream job. I'm grateful for that.
OK, now that I think of it, my actual job is to be a god, but I prefer to science!
I've to get rid of this 'to science', I know, I just consider it so funny for some reason.

13  What position do you sleep in at night?
What, do people sleep in different positions depending if it's night or day, hehe?
Now, usually on my back, since it's not too comfortable in other positions because of… you know *nods at the arm stump* Kinda painful at the side, too, those damn broken ribs. But I'm sure I toss during the night. Usually because I often wake up with an 'ouch!' in my side. And since in the morning I remember not cuddling that pillow.

14  What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
Remember when you asked about the lover's pet name for me? *sigh* well, I've done a lot of stupid things in my life, whether sober or drunk, and that one doctor grabbed me places, sure. And I've lost my arm, which is embarrassing enough. Heh. Ri-i-ight, bad joke.
But the most embarrassing thing was when she recognised me. I mean, we only met once, just when she had became an avatar, and I was a six-year-old kid, who never even assumed he will become one as well. She only caught a glance of me back then. And now, when I look fourty-ish, and she saw me for the second time in her life (which is quite long, believe me!), she recognised me, and I felt myself so small and ridiculous. Like I was six again, that little boy in my sisters winter coat, with a broken tooth and bright dotted knapsack. I don't know why it was so embarrassing for me. But it was! Now I'm more impressed then embarrassed, but at a time, well, I wished I never went down from my centre.

15  Who is your favourite fictional character?
When I was a kid I really liked the story of Beowulf*, so, I suppose, it was him. The story sounded so creepy as a child. Later on I went to see some plays, and I often listen to bards' tales, however, I never quite remembered characters, they were more like character types. And, a-a-ah, yes, I don't really… read… yep, shame on me, shame-shame-shame.

16  What food do you hate most in the world?
Creams. Oh, I hate those. Especially butter cream. I enjoy pies, but cakes have that nasty stuff, ugh. I mean, I know I'm fat, but that's beer. When it comes to something with big amount of oil or butter in it, it makes me sick. I do hate steamed vegetables, but they usually go with other stuff, and taste good. But if someone'd try to feed me just a steamed broccoli… just… get out of my place with that stuff, all-right?

17  When was the last time you were ill?
I'm permanently ill, you know. I have no arm, I'm half-blind, my ribs grew together in a wrong way and so I'm always in pain on my side, and the muscles on left hip are pretty much the same as ribs.
But besides all the fun stuff I mentioned, it was long before I became an avatar. I never was a very sick type of person, but I remember that big fever I had in my former lab… I think I even had both hands way back then. It was around… 180 years ago, then?

18  If you were transformed into a wild creature, what would it be?
I was going to say a bear, but something tells me my belly's not that big. I guess, it's whether a fox or a bull. Since I'm ginger and I'm rather big, respectively. Or a beaver. For no real reason, I think that suits me.

19  What was your favourite toy as a child, and whatever happened to it?
I inherited all my stuff from my older sisters, so, yes, half of my clothes were girl's and I had dolls. A doll, to be specific. As you can see, nothing happened to me because of it, I'm still manly as hell. A bit whiny, but manly.
I think I was just dragging that rug-doll along out of habit and forgot it somewhere. I now imagine it lying under a porch, with all colours faded, and just a shell… but who am I kiddin', it had been around two hundred years, it's all rotten now!
It used to be a rug-doll girl with bright red hair in a pretty dress. I remember I took off her hair and dress, used some metal on it to turn it into a genderless creature that was supposed to be a genius scientist. I sort of succeeded.

20  What's the most amazing thing you've ever seen?
Oh, it was lady Cryptic, the first time I saw her. How she rushed through the frozen lake, taking bolts into her body, just to cleave the ice open and drown the last enemy detachment with her. It sounds very strange and cruel, but it was. so. epic.
A-a-and I was six, so my memory faded and all the fades are filled with bright and colourful fantasies. But I like it that way.
I, uh, remember I nearly cried when I saw that. I imagined in how much pain she was. Sometimes I am surprised how empathic I actually am.

I was actually wanting to keep this under my pillow (as 99 out of 100 memes I do), but Raqonteur asked me to post it, so here we go.

*Beowulf
it is not actually correct. there is a hero in their lands who goes by many names depending on origin, but his story is quite similar to beowulf, except he defeated a giant wolf instead of grendel. however, since i do not want to bore you with their local myhtology, i've decided that earth 'clone' of the hero, beowulf, is a suiting replacement.

Very Interesting. I enjoyed reading this and the detail you put into it.
I'm glad you decided to post this :)

I like the dichotomy in his character, a being of opposites.  Someone who, despite everything, is still very human.
I was drawn in enough by the revelations mixed with the things I didn't know about the character and the world to follow the link on the accompanying drawing to find out more :)

I wonder how many variant answers there are to question 10?
My resident smart-Alec OC; Amber got 49; 17.5% of ((97+42) x (6/2)) -137)

I found the footnote about Beowulf quite interesting.  I think that has to be my favourite of all the questions I put in here.  It really makes people think outside the box for their character, especially if they didn't grow up on 20th century earth :)
